[JapanUrbanLegend] Monkey Dream

"Saru Yume" (Monkey Dream) is a horror story that was posted on the 2ch occult board on August 2, 2000. The protagonist is presumed to be a female, possibly a high school or university student, but her gender is not explicitly identified.
One day, she dreams of being alone on a platform at an unmanned train station. She becomes aware that she is dreaming and experiences a clear lucid dream.
Suddenly, a male voice announces, “If you take the next train, you will encounter something terrible.” Soon after, a train arrives, but it’s not an ordinary train; it’s a monkey-shaped train from an amusement park. Inside, there are pale-faced men and women sitting in a row. Deciding to board, the protagonist sits in the third seat from the back. The train starts moving and soon enters a tunnel filled with purple light.
As they enter the tunnel, the announcement says, “Next stop: Sashimi~ Sashimi.” Following this, screams are heard. Turning around, she sees four small figures in ragged clothing surrounding a man sitting at the back of the train. Beneath him, fish appear as if they have been made into sashimi. Shocked, she looks at the woman next to her, but she remains expressionless. Although frightened, she begins to doubt whether this is truly a dream and decides to observe the situation a little longer before trying to wake up.
Then the announcement states, “Next stop: Excavation~ Excavation.” At this point, two small figures begin to scoop out the eyes of the woman next to the protagonist with sharp spoon-like tools. Realizing she must get off, she still wants to hear what the next announcement will be. At that moment, the voice announces, “Next stop: Ground Meat~ Ground Meat~” and she desperately tries to wake up. Just then, a small figure climbs onto her lap and brings a strange machine close to her. As the machine makes a growing “whirring” sound and she feels air pressure on her face, everything goes quiet, and she wakes up from the dream.
Years later, she dreams of a similar situation again. Struggling to wake up, she finds herself in a similar scenario, and the machine noise approaches again. Ultimately, when she tries to escape the dream, a voice mimicking the train's announcement says, “Are you running away again? Next time will be the last.” At that moment, she wakes up in her room.
She notes, “Next time I dream, I might die from a heart attack. In the afterlife, it will be Ground Meat.” After this, nothing is known about what happened to her.
