[JapanUrbanLegend] NNN Special Broadcast

NNN Special Broadcast |
About 15 years ago, around 2:30 AM, I turned on the TV and saw a color bar, thinking, "There’s no broadcast; I should go to bed." Suddenly, the screen changed to show a garbage disposal site, with a text overlay saying "NNN Temporary Broadcast." It only showed the disposal site continuously, and a narrator read out names in a monotone voice while dark classical music played in the background. After about five minutes, it ended with the line, "The victims for tomorrow are these individuals. Good night." Since then, I’ve found late-night broadcasts frightening.
This story is a widely circulated urban legend among Japanese teenagers, suggesting that after regular programming ends, names of individuals or companies appear on the screen with the announcement, "This concludes the list of tomorrow's victims. Good night." There are also tales of surprising broadcasts that were not on the regular schedule, as well as an incident where a local broadcasting station accidentally aired adult content after regular programming ended. This incident left many wondering, "Did dozens of people stare blankly at the static screen?" There’s a theory that such urban legends arise because children, lacking a formed sense of values, misunderstand the content of late-night programs.
