[JapanUrbanLegend] onii-chan!, get out of the way! I can't kill him!

Ragnarok online

In 2002, Ragnarok Online was a hugely popular MMORPG in Japan. A university student named 374 was enjoying the game, spending his time away from the stresses of everyday life. However, without realizing it, a girl named Tsukimiya began to linger around him in the game world. Her in-game username was derived from the heroine Tsukimiya Ayu from the game Kanon, a name she adopted after her love for the character.

What initially seemed like a fan's harmless attachment gradually turned into an obsessive and unhealthy obsession. Tsukimiya began calling 374 "Onii-chan(big brother)" and insisted that he refer to her as "little sister." Despite 374 trying to ignore her, her attachment grew stronger, and she began making bizarre statements, claiming, "We were together in our past lives" and "A witch's curse is trying to separate us."

On August 5, 2002, the situation took a dramatic turn. Tsukimiya persistently invited 374 to accompany her to Comic Market, but when he refused, she somehow learned his home address and declared, "I'll come visit on Sunday." Shocked by her determination, 374 reached out to his friend, Ako, who also knew Tsukimiya in real life, for help. Despite Ako trying to reason with Tsukimiya, she refused to listen, claiming, "The witch is trying to separate us!" and was adamant about her plans.

On the night of August 10, 374 received a disturbing message from Tsukimiya: "Onii-chan(Big brother), I'll be there at midnight." Fearing for his safety, he immediately contacted the police and began waiting outside his house. As expected, Tsukimiya appeared in front of his house, wielding what looked like a baton, shouting "Onii-chan(Big brother)!" and began trying to break down his door.

In a panic, 374 tried to disarm her, but Tsukimiya mistook him for a suspicious person and attacked. Fortunately, 374 shouted, "What are you doing in front of my house?" which caused Tsukimiya to pause for a moment. The police arrived soon after, and with their help, Tsukimiya was subdued.

At the police station, Tsukimiya continued to make irrational claims, such as "I was trying to save my Onii-chan(big brother) from the witch" and "We've been cursed since our past lives." The police were bewildered by her behavior. Tsukimiya, without identification or any means of contact, was eventually handed over to her parents after 374 was able to get in touch with them. However, even as she was taken away, Tsukimiya kept shouting, "I'm scared of the witch's curse!"

On August 11, 374 received another shocking phone call: "Our daughter has run away." It was Tsukimiya's parents, informing him that she had left home. Realizing the urgency of the situation, 374 spent some time outside and then, as planned, left for a meetup at a donut shop. As he walked, he noticed that Tsukimiya was following him, though he did not initially realize it. He was walking with Ako, casually drinking, when they passed through a quiet alley.

Suddenly, Ako screamed and collapsed. When 374 turned around, he saw Tsukimiya once again, this time holding a blunt weapon. Tsukimiya shouted, "Onii-chan(Big brother), that girl is a witch! I have to kill her!" and lunged toward Ako. 374 quickly rushed to help Ako, asking her if she was okay, but Tsukimiya shouted, "Onii-chan(Big brother), get out of the way! I can't kill her!" and once again swung the weapon.

At that moment, Ako, who had been seemingly out of it, suddenly stood up and, to 374's shock, shouted "Lariat!" and delivered a powerful attack to Tsukimiya. Stunned, Tsukimiya fell to the ground, and 374 immediately contacted the police to report the incident. Tsukimiya was handed over to the authorities once again. Throughout the transfer, Tsukimiya continued to shout, "The witch is trying to kill me! Onii-chan(Big brother), save me!" her words growing increasingly nonsensical.

Afterward, Tsukimiya's game character was never logged in again, and 374 later mentioned that she was receiving counseling. He disappeared shortly afterward, and the case was left unresolved. There were no further reports of Tsukimiya being seen, and the eerie events surrounding her remained shrouded in mystery.
