[JapanUrbanLegend] Satoru-kun
In 2007, Japan's NHK released a children’s song titled "Everyone's Song," which tells the story of a childhood friend named Satoru. Satoru always stayed alone in the playground when it was time to go home, and he was so shy that he never appeared in reflections. The friends who played with him couldn't remember his face.
One day, Satoru mentioned that he would soon say goodbye to the elderly neighbor. The next day, many black shoes were left at the neighbor's house. The song concludes with a wish to meet again someday.
There are interpretations suggesting that Satoru, who does not appear in reflections, foresees his own death, implying he might be a ghost or a grim reaper. This song became popular among Japanese elementary school students, leading to urban legends like "Calling Satoru." However, these legends are just that—legends—and it's best to view them as interesting stories.
