[JapanUrbanLegend] Fast Food Warriors of the Highway

Ronald Sanders Ronald McDonald

A young office worker named Takeuchi Koji was driving along the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway late at night, feeling especially tired. After finishing his work, he was heading home while listening to pop songs playing on the radio. However, his fatigue quickly vanished when he saw an unusual figure in his rearview mirror.

“What is that?”

Something was approaching rapidly from behind. At first, he thought it was a motorcycle or a sports car, but it turned out to be something completely unexpected. Ronald McDonald, with his large red hair and clown makeup, was speeding down the road at an unbelievable pace. His legs moved like rockets, and his bright yellow jumpsuit glowed in the dark night.

Koji, in shock, pressed the accelerator, but Ronald quickly overtook him. Ronald spun in circles ahead and gave him a playful expression. Startled, Koji hit the brakes and could only watch as Ronald sped away.

A few weeks later, a similar sighting occurred on the same expressway. This time, the witness was a truck driver. He was driving late at night, making a chicken delivery, when he saw a figure in his side mirror—a man in a white suit holding a large bucket of fried chicken.

It was Colonel Harland Sanders, speeding past the truck with incredible speed. The truck driver watched in shock as Sanders, smiling, overtook him with his bucket of chicken, seemingly enjoying the race.

The story of Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders racing on the expressway quickly spread on the internet. Social media was flooded with sightings, and some even posted dashcam footage trying to prove it. The urban legend, which began with "Turbo Grandma," had evolved into a new genre—the "Fast Food Racers."

Some people claimed that the mascots of fast food chains were competing against each other for supremacy on the highways. Others dismissed it as a mere joke or hallucination. However, all the witnesses' statements were consistent. Ronald and Sanders were racing at speeds beyond human comprehension, and after their appearance, strange accidents and bizarre events began to happen.

That night, in the middle of a tunnel on the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway, Ronald McDonald and Colonel Sanders met once again. They paused for a moment and stared at each other. A tense atmosphere filled the air before Ronald broke it with a mischievous smile.

“Let’s settle who’s faster today,” he said.

Sanders nodded quietly and replied, “Alright. But I’m not losing my chicken.”

The two of them started at the same time. Their footsteps echoed through the tunnel as they sped away at unbelievable speeds. After that night, sightings of them on the expressway ceased.

However, drivers still report hearing faint laughter and smelling chicken in the night sky. The fast food legends continue on, endlessly.
