[KoreaUrbanLegend] Elevator 02
Late at night, the girl dragged her tired body home after finishing her evening study session at school. Her steps were heavy and slow as she walked through the alley towards the apartment. The path to her home was always the same, but tonight, for some reason, she felt uneasy. The surroundings were quiet and dark, and the stillness made everything feel more intense.
When she arrived at the apartment, she unconsciously entered the elevator. Being alone in an elevator was always scary, and especially at this time, her fear seemed to grow even more. The confined space made it hard to breathe.
She took a deep breath. Just then, the elevator doors opened, and an older man entered. He looked kind and gentle, wearing a slightly worn jacket, with a friendly smile as he nodded at her.
“Are you going alone?” he asked. The girl was momentarily startled but nodded in reply.
“Yes, I’m heading home,” she answered with a calm voice. The man, without showing any signs of discomfort, leaned in and asked, “What floor do you live on?” She was nervous but had no choice but to respond.
“The 5th floor.”
The man smiled and nodded. “I live on the 4th floor. We’re close neighbors.”
The girl felt a bit relieved. His face was friendly, and he seemed just like someone passing by. As the doors slowly began to close, the man quietly stepped out of the elevator. His movement was so natural.
But just as the doors were about to close, suddenly, the man reached into his pocket and pulled something out. It was a knife. The cold metal gleamed as it crossed the inside of the elevator. The girl froze. In an instant, his previously kind face was no longer comforting. His eyes were cold, and his lips trembled into a slight, ominous smile.
"You're going to the upper floor, right?" His voice echoed in the elevator. "I just want to go up."
Without another word, as the elevator doors opened, the man suddenly ran up to the upper floor. Just before the doors closed, the girl couldn't make a sound. She could only stare at his face and watch as he disappeared, holding the knife in his hand.
The elevator doors slammed shut with a loud clang. The girl let out a heavy breath. Her heart was pounding wildly, and her fingers were frozen in place, unable to move. The sound of footsteps from outside echoed, and she was gripped by terror, unable to hear anything else.
